Our nickname for our Mam was 'Boot'. She didn't care, she loved it. When she died, she left a gaping space, full of nothing. No colour. But as time passed, and with the help of my partner Gary (whose surname is Miller, hence the windmill) and whose Mam died three months after mine, the colour eventually began to reappear. This piece depicts the gap between us as we dealt with both our individual and shared grief for these two amazing women, and if you look carefully, you will see my boot is missing.
