This lovely ceramic beer stein / tankard by Adams dates from between 1914-1940 and features a pretty harbour scene on the front and a poem named ‘Good Companions on the back. The tankard is in nice condition for its age, but does show a little wear to the green trim on the rim. There are some small patches of discolouration to the inside of the rim and on the handle. The reverse of the tankard has some storage marks. The poem reads:
A friend that is social
Good natured and free
To a pot of my liquor
Right welcome shall be
But he that is proud,
Illnatured will pass
By my door to an ale house
And pay for his glass
Which sounds fair enough to me!
